Yes, I'd say that being open and just being yourself is the best way to get the opportunity to prove yourself through your interview, trial and future. Being open about things that have happened in the past was a big way that I got accepted, and not trying to hide things from the people that want you to be able to represent them!

Make sure to learn to be respectful not threaten others before applying! Definitely make sure to not make a big deal out of things, like turning people against each other just because someone you dislike exists in the same server as you do!
