Survival How to revive Survival Mode

Discussion in 'MCO/Bedrock Games' started by donxyz, Nov 18, 2022.

  1. ive been playing survival mode ever since 2019, i think i have a pretty good idea of what the community wants.
How to bring survival mode to its old glory:
    1. Reset for the second time
    2. Bring back Withers: in my opinion the most important one
    3. Keep redstone/piston raiding
    4. Add option to share claims with multiple friends
    5. Make all building blocks accessible + items from nether/end dimension

    (6. illegals): they are not necessary for survival to be fun again, but they are part of what made it so interesting and exciting

this would already be enough to make survival fun again.
of course you could also add pvp, nether dimension, end dimension, building contests, currency/points + leaderboard, and challenges but these are optional as old survival mode had none of these yet still had a big playerbase

  2. Survival mode struggling to survive-talk about irony.

  3. I personally believe that there is a significant missed opportunity if Survival remains limited to 1.8 content, i'd like to see a server like Mineplex become competitive in its Survival game modes. Beginning with a split between the legacy 1.8 survival servers and a new Survival server running on the latest version, the updates of which would occur once over the course of a number of new versions.

With plugins that don't add too much too the game but are more focussed on enhancing pre existing features in Minecraft, such as 7 star firework rockets being as lethal as end crystals, capable of being launched from crossbows in elytra flight, and which destroy minor amounts of terrain on detonation. A plugin that nerfs the explosive damage of explosive blocks, a plugin that lets players stack potions to 16, and a plugin that doubles the enchantment limit of select books depending on the levels of combat or fortification you want to promote.

And if it seems that there is no more content to enhance yet there is content lacking then consider my idea: Create a plugin which allows players to create portals into their own pocket dimensions using ludicrous resources: these portals would be vulnerable and any players within the pocket dimension when the portal is compromised and broken would be trapped, effectively banned from the overworld until they are rescued.

The boundaries of the pocket dimension could be expanded at the request of the players who know of its existence however if they have not obtained favor from Mineplex staff then they may be ignored so long as there is a valid reason based on genuine concerns for how it would have adverse effects on the overall quality of the server: A prime example would be a lack of storage or a group clearly having too great of an advantage

There are thousands of Survival servers out there all with varying features such as lifesteal, hardcore, antigrief and anarchy, as well as those with custom enchantments and bosses, but i've yet to play one that caters more strictly to enhancing the pre existing features in a manner similar to Mojang development. Good quality servers have been diminishing ever since the monopoly of Hypixel and there's room for meaningful competition against them: So compete by doing some thing new, iterate on ideas and focus on quality more than profit.

Although that last suggestion about pocket dimensions doesn't really align with the hands off enhancement approach there's not a lot to enhance even in later versions.

  4. Why you level 0 with 0 stats then :eyes:

  5. 1. sounds fun
    2. I mean if they want to direct Survival to a more Factions gamemode sure. If they do that then claims should be removed or the game should be rebranded to Factions, which kind of flopped already.
    3. Same with the above.
    4. Sounds great
    5. Sounds cool
    6. If they're accessible through an actual mechanic and not item spawning then sure whynot.

Either way you probably won't see any of these changes done for a while.

  7. this is not my first account, i built a reputition with 3 different accounts on survival mode. one of them is lvl 70 +lord rank, the other 23, and one lvl 0

for nr 2 and 3: it worked before didnt it? raiding is a lot more fun when its challenging, if you remove claims anyone can destroy anything how boring. ive seen you on survival only a couple of times and that wasnt long ago, i doubt you know more about the community than i do

  8. The whole raiding issue is the reason why I don't play Survival. because what's the point in building something if it's going to be destroyed? It's not Factions. If it was advertised more like Factions then yeah, I have no problems with claims being kept or whatever. but since it's advertised as Survival, the whole purpose of claims is to prevent players from griefing. The only reason why it's allowed right now is because it was seen that it was a better choice to wait for the development team to implement anti-griefing measures versus staff being allowed to ban for it.

  9. How to revive survival: Open minecraft, create a world, and boom, you're done! Because Mineplex survival is rubbish and I question the people who decide to put themselves through the torture of playing it when they could have a better time doing it on a normal world.

  10. Survival multiplayer is a blast, just not necessarily on this server...

  11. It's generally the same reason why players continue to play 2b2t, to do some thing other players wouldn't do, to enjoy and relish the act of being the first to do some thing, like monopolizing the end island of a Minecraft server or maintaining an elaborate underground perimeter of facilities beneath world spawn. Players like me enjoy creating spectacles of architecture and desolation, to engineer landscapes and fortified facilities, to optimize and dominate the competition.

Without meaningful competition i'm strained to find the will to participate in said competition, and without meaningful activity i'm strained to continue playing. Survival should not be misrepresented as Antigrief like so many false advertising servers do, survival should mean what it means, not towny with excessive features. For a server to be appropriately tagged "survival" it needs to maintain these aspects: The freedom to build, the freedom to destroy, the freedom to kill, and prohibiting cheaters.

What's the point of building your facilities on an Antigrief server if it's only going to be seen by a handful of people and never sought after by griefers? never compromised to have its architecture tested with explosive block and entity combat. Only to inevitably fade into obscurity over the course of time, forgotten, having no extensive history to support its relevance, meaningless effort that could have reinforced the identity which you wanted to promote for yourself.

  12. I don’t think you can really compare 2b to survival

  13. Welcome the use of GBoxes (Shulkers) without allowing the use of hacks since this is the only reason why Mineplex Survival is still alive.

In my opinion, however I'd say this is the only unique survival server I have ever seen without the use of add-ons to have its own economy.

  14. Aren't they both chaotic multiplayer survival environments that are notoriously difficult to join, abounding with cheating and exploits, and have little to no regulation(s)?

    Posted Nov 23, 2022
  15. I think one is a lot worse

    Posted Nov 23, 2022
  16. Yeah, at this point I would say that would be Survival.

  17. I really do think they should allow piston raiding in the next season, since griefing technically isn't against the rules either. It's not like there aren't ways to make your base raid proof to avoid it, and no one's going to bother messing up your base with pistons if they don't see anything to steal anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. Just keep everything in regular chests, don't leave land unclaimed that's really close to your home and there's not a thing that raiders can do about it. (As far as I know.) I've never had any of my bases raided. Honestly, raiding with pistons is part of what makes it interesting for me.

  18. You mean, like, redstone flying machines?

    Posted Dec 7, 2022
  19. I actually don't have any experience with the flying machines, but I've heard of them. Are these capable of destroying regular chests or obsidian? If that's the case, I suppose that could be a problem. However, there's quite a few ways to protect yourself from raids even without obsidian, so I don't see it as an issue.

  20. If used as a "bombing drone," they can grief anything BUT obsidian.
