Why nerf ranger?

What should be done to assassin?

  1. Buff

  2. Nerf

  3. Nothing

  1. Just why? Ranger is the only class that can kill an assassin without giving them the chance to literally go invisible and run away. Just why. Why is the one decent match up to assassin being nerfed? If any mods are reading this, have you ever considered why 90% of people exclusively play assassin? Now that ranger is nerfed that number will go up. This isn't anything new either, any of you remember when they put intimidation on a cool down? Anyone remember when stampede got put to speed 2? Anyone remember when they buffed back stab? Anyone remember when bottles started being used and assassins could cleanse any debuffs people threw on them? Anyone remember when they added the 2 glitchiest abilities in the game into assassin's kit? Anyone remember how you are able to sometimes permanently go invisible on assassin with those abilities? Even before all these things were changed to help out assassins, the large majority of players still played it. It's honestly getting out of control now and I haven't a clue as to why it keeps getting buffed, directly or indirectly. I can only think of 2 attempts to nerf assassin and those were when combo reset when attacking different targets and when evade and recall were reworked (but that last one doesn't even matter since they added the 2 most broken abilities into its kit). There needs to be some sense of balance in this game, so if you are going to make something the most mobile class in the game, why are you giving it the most 1v1 potential of any class? Nobody (unless they are in a large group) is even able to go into the war zone without any other kit because the will just get run down by some assassins with no hope of escape. Even legend users just get flashed on while running and die to back stab in 4 hits. If there are any mods reading this, please do tell me why we are putting assassin in more and more of a favorable environment.

    The official reason for the update is as follows: "Due to Clans' open world nature, and protection within claimed bases, users in Clans could get high-damage shots with absolutely no risk. The intended purpose of the change was to prevent the combination of Longshot, and Overcharge from instantly killing players (and lowering tanks to 3-4 hearts) with no way to counter it."

    Generally speaking, this was a standalone update only done to fix the situation we had with longshot. This is not indicative of future changes. There are documents and discussions that have been done with balances that will properly nerf assassin, and buff tank kits- as everyone is aware that that should be a focus.

    Assassin isn't in the best place, but this change was done to improve the immediate situation, while we wait for the overall to be addressed.

  3. Actually if you play kits other than assassin like knight with fortitude/def stance, or maybe using a healing ranger or life bonds mage and it would be fine. Even throw a brute in since the damage modifier on the diamond armor in clans makes it so you need to deal 92 damage in one shot to kill them. Even an assassin diving them would be able to take them out since they are fairly useless in melee match ups without any assistance. There are ways to play against rangers, I just don't think people are willing to try them and that's what upsets me; assassin is the only thing in the game that sees any real play time and I'm a little tired of it, and its also good to see you too Fallen.

  5. Stop crying that you wont one tap people every time you go on the sky bridges. Ranger still does dmg to sin but just won’t one tap them.

  7. Yes sin is a bit dumb with the amount of free hits they can get, which is like 5 or 6. But sin is a weak kit. Ranger will sill do like 6 hearts off damage to sin. If you’re using napalm 4, the fire will finish off the sin.

  8. Longshot can get annoying when a ranger out of render (for example sky bridges) shoots you. Then you see an arrow with almost no time to react, and you realize you’re dead. Longshot should still do a significant amount of damage, so this update seems balanced, but 1 tapping isn’t fair especially the fact that an arrow can be shot out of nowhere sometimes.

  9. I can't have a fair 1v1 in this game anymore assassin is very overpowered in combat and in it's ability to get on top of buildings others can't and it's ability to get around the map.

  10. High risk and ridiculously stupid reward
    And then there’s the class that can kill MULTIPLE people while invulnerable and invisible

    It takes a lot of skill to aim the arrow too btw, just like a sniper: if they miss one shot, they give away their location

  11. “Give away” depends where they’re at. Most rangers these days sit in their tower so you can’t even kill them.

  13. sin should be 1 shot by Ranger by logic, their armour is very weak and it just makes sense for it be one shot by a very strong and calculated arrow shot. The cool down for longshot and the pull back time for overcharge make shots for rangers slower and sins can easily dodge with flash/blink/leap not to mention they have speed 2 to dodge arrows. Making them not get 1 shot just ruined the purpose of using ranger longshot overcharge, it takes skill to actually land that hit. Stop buffing sin. You debuff ranger, mage, brute (literally all the counters to sin) but you dont nerf sin. I just don't understand Sin is a very over powered meta and needs to be removed or nerfed. They take much much more effort to kill and most times they can run and clean fights with such little effort not to mention the high mobility to get to places where literally any other class cannot reach. and now you made it even more broken

  14. As much as I love farming knight zephron for his ranger sets as sin, he’s right. A sniper should one shot the lightest class. It just makes sense. Not to mention sin is kinda the best class in the game, so taking away it’s counters doesn’t fix the overall issue with the game. Yes, ranger slows down the pace of the game because you have to worry about sight lines and not getting one tapped, but sin has too much it can do. Why run anything else? One of the pros of playing any other class than sin (cause that happens once a blue moon, lol) is because it couldn’t get one hit by overcharge long-shot, ever. Why take that away? There are different ways to make ranger less annoying then taking away its main purpose in clans.

  15. Sin deserves to get one-tapped, sure, in DOM. In Clans, I would 100% agree with a one-tap overcharge/longshot skill if it wasn't A) so easy to get the shots and B) so low risk to do so.

    No kit deserves that.

To be honest none of you guys have been on c2, the entire server was ruled by 5 or 6 rangers who would have access the a whole side of a map through a series of sky bridges, that admins and mods couldn't even break fast enough. Now you may be thinking to yourself “haha that’s good to counter sin”. But if the person playing sin went knight it wouldn’t really make any sense because there’s still 5 rangers on a sky bridge, and hey look now you can’t even avoid the arrows, and then the clan with the most rangers always wins because then they will have sins that just wait till your “tank” gets hit down to 3 hearts. If your a ranger player and your complaining you shouldn’t even really be, because I know rangers who can run ground ranger just fine. The only thing this nerfed was rangers in ranger towers and 7 rangers in a sky bridge.

  17. Yea I agree with m3ga, if you go on C2 In the top part of East shops there’s at least ten rangers at a time all around you. So it conquers sin pretty easily.

  18. Ranger still does like 7 hearts of dmg after a full overcharge long shot. Using napalm 4 would kill the assassin if they don’t have a water bottle. Either way the sin is then a 1 or 2 tap. No reason to complain about the nerf. If you’re a good ranger, you can just 2 tap the assassin

  19. Everyone sin carries bottles with them. Realistically, the sin won’t die to arrow fire. Even with the old longshot, sins would sometimes live with half a heart, so a less damaging one won’t do the job either. Also, changing a one shot to a 2 shot isn’t like changing a 6 shot to a 7 shot. 1 to 2 is a major difference and that would lead to most, if not every sin, being able to react to the shot and survive.

  20. Hhyphen honestly it just sounds like your a tower ranger and your not willing to go ground ranger(which is more skillful) and actually secure kills, rather then sitting invincible in your tower complaining that you can’t one shot people.
